Dynamine and Caffeine: Half-Life and Sleep Claims

What two human studies measured when methylliberine was combined with caffeine, and why their half-life estimates cannot set a personal sleep cutoff.

Adding Dynamine to caffeine should not be assumed to make a blend wear off sooner. Small human studies found slower caffeine elimination even though methylliberine, the ingredient sold as Dynamine, cleared relatively quickly. Those measurements do not establish a personal bedtime cutoff or how long a finished supplement feels stimulating.

For an adult comparing pre-workouts or focus products, the useful question is what the complete formula contains and what the cited experiment actually measured. Sources checked November 8, 2026.

What the 2022 blood study found#

A randomized crossover study compared single oral doses in 12 healthy adults: 150 mg caffeine alone versus the same amount with 100 mg methylliberine. Blood sampling continued through 24 hours. These are study conditions, not a suggested combination. Original report

The results section reports mean caffeine half-lives of about 7.2 hours alone and 14.7 hours with methylliberine. Total exposure increased; peak caffeine concentration did not significantly change. That does not establish identical perceived intensity, jitters or exercise performance.

Ingredient supplier Compound Solutions helped fund the study. The report contains inconsistent dose and cohort wording. Its direction of interaction should not become an exact prediction for another product or person.

What a separate saliva study adds#

A 2025 crossover study of gastric water emptying involved 12 adults. Special ice capsules delivered 25 mg caffeine alone or with 100 mg methylliberine and 50 mg theacrine. Saliva was sampled over 24 hours, without paired blood measurements or overnight sleep outcomes. Methods and Table 4

Caffeine half-life estimates were 5.15 ± 1.21 hours alone and 15.33 ± 10.75 hours in the combination (mean ± standard deviation). Four participants had baseline caffeine on some study days; those concentrations were subtracted. The authors declared no external funding or competing interests.

The wide variability and three-ingredient comparison limit interpretation: this cannot isolate methylliberine's contribution or validate another product's duration.

Why these numbers cannot set a sleep timer#

Half-life describes concentration decline, not when everyone can sleep. Neither experiment measured a safe bedtime interval. Their different doses, formulations and sampling methods prevent a universal multiplier.

A calculator needs assumptions about your metabolism and sleep response. Its clock time remains an estimate. A short half-life for one ingredient cannot establish the duration of the complete mixture.

Check the complete label before adding another product#

Keep a photograph of the ingredient panel and record:

  • Caffeine per stated serving, the serving size and how many servings you use.
  • Whether methylliberine or Dynamine and theacrine or TeaCrine are present, and their disclosed amounts.
  • Other caffeine sources that day, including coffee, energy drinks and medicines.
  • The product's time of use, bedtime and any sleep problems or other symptoms.

If a seller claims a predictable duration, ask for a study of the same formulation, amount and route, with the outcome you care about. An oral capsule experiment cannot establish a pouch's absorption or a blend's overnight effects. An undisclosed ingredient amount leaves that comparison incomplete.

FDA cites 400 mg caffeine per day as an amount not generally associated with negative effects for most adults. That is not a target or a guarantee for a stimulant combination. Sensitivity, medicines and health conditions can change the decision. Discuss relevant conditions or medicines, pregnancy, plans for pregnancy or breastfeeding with a clinician; a pharmacist can review the full ingredient list. Do not recreate study conditions with bulk caffeine powder. FDA caffeine guidance

For a product that also contains creatine, use the separate creatine and caffeine trial guide. For a claim based on a different population, formulation or outcome, use the human-evidence checklist before treating it as evidence for your product.
